There is no honest universal answer to “rPET or cotton?” The outcome depends on material source, fabric weight, manufacturing, transport, product life, actual reuse and end-of-life handling.

01What is rPET?
rPET is polyester made from recycled PET feedstock. Its practical characteristics can include low weight, compact storage, resistance to normal moisture and strong colour-printing options.
The rPET label alone does not prove that a complete product has a lower overall impact. Business claims should be based on the documented recycled content, material source and information available for the specific supplier.
02What does cotton offer?
Cotton has a natural feel and is familiar to many customers. Its impact varies widely with cultivation, irrigation, fabric weight, dyeing, manufacturing and frequency of use. As with rPET, the fibre name alone is not enough to determine the better option.
03Practical comparison
Weight and packability
rPET can be very light and compact, which helps with distribution, travel and bags intended to stay close at hand. A heavier cotton bag is bulkier but may feel more substantial.
Printing
Polyester is suitable for detailed colour artwork. The ECOZZ Custom bag supports full-bleed printing on the main bag body. Cotton results depend on the selected printing method, fabric colour and surface texture.
Product life
Use count is not determined by the fibre alone. Seams, handle construction, zipper, load, washing and user behaviour all matter. The best practical result normally comes from a bag that replaces alternatives and remains useful for long enough.
End of life
Textile recycling depends on local infrastructure, mixed materials, print and accessories. It is therefore misleading to promise that every bag will automatically be recycled after use.
04ECOZZ Custom product options
The ECOZZ Custom bag is made from recycled polyester and supports full-bleed printing on the main body, an optional zipper and a minimum quantity of 500 pieces. The specific design, price, shipping, deposit and date are confirmed in the individual quote and production proof.
The customer first submits a non-binding design. Delivery and billing details are added at approval. The deposit can then be paid online through Stripe or by bank transfer against an issued invoice.
05How to decide
Ask five questions before selecting the material:
- How and how often will the audience use the bag?
- Do you need detailed full-bleed artwork or a simple logo?
- What weight and packability does distribution require?
- What material and production documentation is available?
- Is the planned quantity realistic and genuinely useful?
Material matters, but it is not the whole answer. A responsible choice is based on the complete product, verifiable information and real use.
ECOZZ has produced custom bags since 2008 for partners in more than 20 countries.
